Good Fruit Week 5 Study Guide

Reflection Questions

Read Galatians 5:22-23, Romans 2:4, and Titus 3:3-8

  1. Romans 2:4 tells us that it is the kindness of God that leads people to repentance. Why do you believe it’s His kindness and not the awareness of His wrath that leads to repentance?
  2. Where have you experienced or shown brotherly love and kindness in your life before? What was it like?
  3. In Colossians 3:12, we’re told to “clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” What does it look like practically, in everyday life, for the believer to be clothed in kindness?
  4. Have you ever thought about the power of God’s goodness in your life? How has He shown you His goodness and how have you been able to share it with others?
  5. Read Titus 2:11–14 and 3:1–2. What does it look like to be devoted, ready, and eager to do what is good?
  6. How can you better practice walking in kindness and goodness today? How can you display it to others?

Memory Verse

“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. ”—Titus 3:3–8 (NIV)

Prayer Guide

Father, thank You for Your kindness that leads to repentance. When I was lost, full of strife, brokenness, and subject to Your wrath, Your loving kindness saved me and made me new! I pray You would help me to always remember that it was because of Your loving kindness that I am here where I stand today. May this always be at the forefront of my mind and heart as I go forth in my interactions with others so my words will carry greater weight as Your kindness and goodness are produced in me and displayed through me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

This Week

All through the week, remind yourself of the gospel. Read it in Titus 3:4–7, Ephesians 2:4–5, Philippians 2:6–8, Colossians 2:13–14, and 2 Corinthians 5:21. Soak it in. Let the words penetrate every corner of your heart and mind. As it does, pray and ask the Lord how in light of all He’s done for you in Christ, how does He desire for you to show the goodness of the gospel through your life today.
