This past weekend, we continued our “Origins: The Beginning” series as Pastor Stephan Tchividjian shared a powerful word from Genesis 5. In this message, we looked at the generations from Adam to Noah, explored reasons why we should walk with God, and discovered how we can walk with Him.

Let’s recap some of the key talking points from Pastor Stephan’s teaching this weekend:

Identity: The condition of being oneself, and not another; the condition or character as to who a person is; the qualities, beliefs, etc., that distinguish or identify a person or thing.

The Giving of Life Always Brings a Sense of Joy: The birth of a child, a miraculous recovery from a terminal illness, a flower blooming . . . these things bring people joy, happiness, excitement, and relief. This is what new life is meant to bring about in us. It’s meant to fill us with joy because it's proof of God’s promise of life to Adam and Eve, of His mercy and plan of redemption.

This genealogy from Adam to Noah shows us that death is a constant, inevitable part of life. We don’t know life without death. That’s why every name listed except for Enoch's ends with “and he died.” Why? Because “Enoch walked faithfully with God;then he was no more, because God took him away" (Genesis 5:24 NIV). When you walk with God, you never truly die.

• HIS LIMITLESS PRESENCE: He will never leave us alone. 
• HIS LIMITLESS PROMISES: Every step has a promise.
• HIS LIMITLESS PURPOSES: A sense of purpose and direction exists.
• HIS LIMITLESS PERSPECTIVES: Learn to see what God sees.
• HIS LIMITLESS POWER: Love like God.
• HIS LIMITLESS PROVISION: Contentment and peace are available to us.

How Do We Walk with God?

• You must DECIDE to walk with God.
• You must identify a DESTINATION.
• You must participate DAILY.

Quote to Remember: To walk with God is to set God always before us, to act as always under His eye. It is constantly to care, in all things to please God, and in nothing to offend Him. It is to be followers of Him as dear children. The Holy Spirit, instead of saying, Enoch lived, says, Enoch walked with God. This was his constant care and work; while others lived to themselves and the world, he lived to God. It was the joy of his life. Enoch was removed to a better world.—Matthew Henry
