FOR THE NOTE TAKERS Let’s recap some of the key talking points from Pastor Doug's teaching this weekend:
Jesus Is Inviting Us to Be on Mission with Him (Matthew 5:13–16): Who are we? According to Jesus, we are salt; we are light; we are a city on a hill. In essence, He is saying that we are world changers. He is inviting us to be part of His amazing work to transform the world.
It Is Better to Light a Candle Than Curse the Darkness: We emit what we absorb . . . this is a basic principle of radiation. Jesus is light; He is brilliantly radiant. And as we spend time with Him, we absorb His life, His thoughts, and His heart into our core. And when that happens, we will begin to emit His radiance to the world around us. As the light of the world, when we come into contact with people, the glow of Christ should light up their lives and reflect His glory.
Our Mission Will Hasten Christ’s Return: Jesus told us to preach the gospel of the kingdom to the whole world as a testimony to all nations. God alone knows when that objective will be accomplished. What we know is that Christ has not returned yet, so the task is not yet done. When it is done, Christ will come. Until then, let’s get busy and complete our mission. Let’s bring light and life into as many souls as we can until Christ returns.
If you long for Christ’s return, then make every effort to get the gospel into all the world. So, we're instructed not only to wait for, but also to hasten the coming day of the Lord by preaching the good news to the nations.
