Label Maker

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”—Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
Do you know what seems like a fun job? Naming medicines. Who came up with Claritin or Tylenol or Flonase? This got me thinking, Who has the right to name or label something? Well, there are two categories of people:
- Creators: When we create something, we have the right to label it. For example, when babies are born their parents label them by giving them a name.
- Purchasers: When we purchase something, we have the right to label it. For example, when someone gets a pet, one of the first things they’ll do is give it a name.
- Psalm 100:3 (NIV): “It is he who made us, and we are his.”
- Psalm 119:73 (NIV): “Your hands made me and formed me.”
- Psalm 139:13 (NIV): “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
