Day 13: Lighting Up the World with the Good News

READ

“When the angels left them and went back into Heaven, the shepherds said to each other, ‘Now let us go straight to Bethlehem and see this thing which the Lord has made known to us.’ So they came as fast as they could and they found Mary and Joseph—and the baby lying in the manger. And when they had seen this sight, they told everybody what had been said to them about the little child. And those who heard them were amazed at what the shepherds said.”—Luke 2:15–20 (PHILLIPS)

It’s been said that “good news travels fast.” Think about it . . . Has anything ever happened that was so awesome that you just couldn’t wait to tell your best friend? Or have you ever received a really good grade on a test and were bursting with excitement to show your parents? Well, it seems that good news travels really fast because when something amazing happens, the first thing we usually want to do is share it with others!

Remember a couple of days ago when we talked about the shepherds that were invited to come and see baby Jesus, the newborn Savior? Well, when they left, they went and told everyone they knew that the Savior of the world had been born! Turns out, the news traveled quickly, and soon tons of people knew about this world-changing news.

Now that you know what an awesome gift Jesus’ birth on Christmas was, it’s time for you to share the good news! The fact that Jesus was born on Earth so He could eventually die on a cross for our sins so we can have Jesus in our hearts forever and one day live in heaven with God is the best news of all. In fact, it’s the most important news anyone will ever hear! So, don’t keep it to yourself. Tell your friends and family how much God loves them. Share the good news of Jesus with everyone!

LET THE LIGHT SHINE

Jesus called us to be a light to the world. What’s a way you can show up and show off your light?
